Date 1: The Electrician

It started off so promising. We decided to meet at a coffee shop and I got there a couple minutes early. He walked up and immediately just asked me what I wanted and then went inside to order. Once we had our drinks it went downhill, and I’m talking zipline speed, no gentle stroll. He started by telling me how he has his own company but is mean to his employees. He tells them on their first day not to ask him anything personal, he will not allow them on their phones ever, he will not smile, and has had two complaints to the MOL. Cool. Cool. I work in HR. He knew this. Cool.

He then proceeded to tell me that he wants kids, his daughter must be a doctor but his son can do whatever he wants, because he is a man. Cool.

I told him that I had considered the idea of having a child on my own if I don’t find a partner (didn’t say that I am actually doing it right now…) and he told me that was a horrible idea because a child needs a mother who is kind and a stern father and I cannot be both. Cool.

There were a number of other things that we fundamentally disagreed on but suffice it to say there was no second date.
